89% of Georgia counties are considered medically underserved, and Georgia consistently ranks among the states with the highest uninsured rates in the nation. Approximately 12% of Georgians, about 1 in 8 people, lack health insurance, with the state having the second-highest uninsured rate in the country.

The impact extends beyond insurance coverage. Recent community health assessments found that:

• Nearly 15% of Georgians have delayed or skipped seeing a doctor because they could not afford the cost.

• 38% of Georgians reported not filling a prescription, cutting pills in half, or skipping doses due to cost.

• Rural communities often face additional barriers, including provider shortages, longer travel distances to healthcare facilities, and fewer opportunities for preventive care.

These barriers can lead to preventable chronic diseases going undetected and untreated, placing individuals and families at greater risk for serious health complications.

The HealthLink Initiative exists to help bridge these gaps. Through free health screenings, health education, community outreach, and partnerships with local organizations, we work to build a trusted community presence so that more Georgians have access to the knowledge and resources they need to live healthier lives.
