The HealthLink Initiative began with a simple question: how is someone supposed to find healthcare if they do not know where to start?
As a student volunteer at a supply drive, Dhanya witnessed firsthand how difficult it could be for individuals and families to navigate the healthcare system. Her perspective shifted after learning about charitable care programs and free clinics, prompting her to ask a deeper question: where do uninsured and underserved individuals turn when they need medical care?
Determined to find answers, Dhanya spent weeks researching free and low-cost healthcare resources across Georgia. What she discovered was a fragmented system that was often difficult to navigate. Many clinics had little online visibility, information was scattered across multiple websites, and intake procedures could be confusing for patients already facing barriers such as limited time, transportation, or language access. She realized that if locating healthcare resources was challenging for her, it could be nearly impossible for someone in urgent need of care.
From that idea, The HealthLink Initiative, 501c(3) came to life. Dhanya partnered with her longtime friend Faith to transform a simple concept into a growing statewide initiative. HealthLink would not be where it is today without Faith's leadership; as the head of Operations, she has been invaluable to the organization's internal strength. As the leader of the Athens chapter, she has played a key role in expanding HealthLink's reach and building meaningful community partnerships.
A dedicated team of volunteers has taken a simple resource-mapping database project into community outreach, health screenings, educational workshops, and one-on-one healthcare navigation. Enlisting a team of software developers, HealthLink has been working to develop the web-app, an accessible one-stop platform.
Today, HealthLink works with communities across Georgia to connect individuals with affordable healthcare resources while building a centralized platform designed to make healthcare navigation simpler and more accessible. HealthLink remains an evolving, ever growing project with a team of highly dedicated and compassionate student volunteers across Georgia striving to end the cycle of health inequity.
Chief Executive Officer
Hey! I'm Dhanya, an undergraduate biology student at Georgia Tech with interests in healthcare policy and access. Every aspect of HealthLink has been inspired by the individuals I've met who faced barriers to care with remarkable resilience. Their experiences have reinforced for me how much access to healthcare can influence a person's quality of life and the opportunities they have. Their stories continue to inspire the work behind HealthLink.
